Bonjour, friends!

I am in France! There are so many famous landmarks here. The first city I went to is the capital, Paris.

Here I am in front of the Eiffel Tower.

I went to the Louvre art museum. My favorite painting was the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci.

I went to Notre Dame, a famous church in Paris. I did not see the hunchback of Notre Dame there, but I did see some gargoyles.

Paris is also home to the Arc de Triomphe. The monument was built to honor those who fought for the French during the Napoleonic wars.

Just outside of Paris is Versailles. There is a huge palace where the French kings and queens used to live.

From Paris I traveled to Normandy. A massive battle occurred on the Normandy beaches during World War 2. The battle is known as D-Day. There were many lives lost on this beach in order to free the French from Nazi Germany. Americans played an important role in this battle. I also visited the American cemetery at Normandy. It was sad to see so many gravestones marking all of the lives lost.

My favorite French food were crepes. They are like a thin pancake. I liked mine with chocolate and bananas.

My time in France was too short. There was still a lot to see. Next time I write I will be in the Netherlands!
