Alo from Romania!

My first stop is Romania was… TRANSYLVANIA! This mountainous region of Romania is famous for being the home of Bram Stoker’s famous vampire,  Dracula. I expected my hotel to be in a scary village, but it turns out Brasov is a nice city in the middle of beautiful mountains.

From Brasov, I took a trip to the Bran Castle. Bran Castle pretends to where the real life Dracula (not a vampire) lived. The truth is Vlad Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, probably never lived in this castle. The castle was still fun to look at.

Without seeing any vampires, I left Transylvania and headed to Bucharest, the capital of Romania. In Bucharest I saw several buildings including the Palace of the Parliment, the 2nd largest administation building in the world. A lot of the Romanian government works out of the massive building.

My favorite new food I tried in Romania was polenta. Polenta is boiled cornmeal and served as a side dish. It goes good with everything!

While in Bucharest I saw Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine drive by. I wonder if they were heading to Transylvania to solve a ghost mystery.

Tomorrow I will be leaving the mysteries and legends of Romania for the history and architecture of Turkey.

Guten tag from Germany.

I spent all of my time in the German state of Bavaria because I only had a few days. Bavaria is famous for many things like Lederhosen, Pretzels, and Oktoberfest. I stayed in the city of Munich. Munich has an old glockenspiel in the center of the city. Everyday, tourists like me gather around to watch the glockenspiel figures dance around.

From Munich I took a day trip to Fussen to see some famous palaces. The most famous palace is the Schloss Neuschwanstein. King Ludwig II of Bavaria built the castle to replace the one he grew up in.  This castle was the inspiration for Disney’s castles.

The other palace, Schloss Hohenschwanstein, was where King Ludwig II grew up. I liked that castle too!
